Escalante Elementary School receives $10,000 check from Hour Of Code

Escalante Elementary, located on Salt  Lake City's west side, held an assembly on Monday, December 7.  Cameron Wilson and other delegates from Hour of Code.org presented the school with a check for $10,000 to buy new technology for the school.  Escalante Elementary's computer lab instructor, Michelle Colby, wrote, applied for and received the award.  

Following the assembly, one 4th grade class went to Escalante's Library where they worked with Library Technology Teacher,  Marilyn Walker and 4th grade teacher, Alan Stevens, as well as representatives from Utah and Hour Of Code on the new coding activities for 2015.  

Carl Lyman, CS/IT Education Specialist, code.org Utah State Office of Education, dove into Minecraft and Star Wars coding activities in the Computer Lab with 4th graders and their teacher, Connie Sturzenegger, and Michelle Colby.  Everyone received a certificate for completing the Hour of Code.
