Follow up the UCET love at ISTE

We're all so excited for UCET this week.  It will be great to learn new things, connect with old friends, and share in our Utah community.  Some of you may be wondering how you can expand your PLN beyond Utah and learn from even more amazing educators.  In a word – ISTE.  The International Society for Technology in Education conference in June is a fantastic way to continue the conversations started at UCET.  This year's conference is being held from June 26 – 29 in San Antonio, Texas.  It will bring together educators from around the world, all with the purpose to help students learn and grow through technology integration.  I hope you'll consider attending ISTE, it's been a huge part of my professional learning and I know it can make a difference for you too.

Legislative Panel Discussion at UCET 2017

Can you feel the excitement building? One week from today is the big day, UCET 2017 Conference! I know I am getting excited to participate, renew friendships, learn and share with fellow educators over two very full days. I have been attending UCET conferences for more years than I care to admit and it just keeps getting better! Every year seems to out-do the last with innovative sessions, keynotes, and activities – and 2017 is no exception!

We are excited to announce the addition of a legislative panel discussion to be held during the final session on Friday. This panel of special guest speakers will include participants from the Governor's Office of Education, the Utah State Board of Education, and the Utah Legislature. Don't miss this opportunity to hear from these officials about the 2017 Legislative Session, plans for the future of Utah education, and other great information. Mark your schedule for Friday the 17th, 2:15-3:15 in the Union Ballroom. I invite you to join hosts Derek Larson and myself, Charice Carroll, for this amazing chance to get up close to our representatives and policy makers. Look for it in the NEW conference schedule at https://event.crowdcompass.com/ucet17 and put this session in your backpack!

Can't wait to see you at UCET 2017!

It’s Almost Here!

Hello friends!! Can you believe that UCET is fast approaching? Neither can I.  It's about this time of year each year that I get excited and nervous and more excited as I start to think about all of the great things that will be happening at UCET this year!  This year as I'm starting to look at all of the exciting things that UCET has to offer I can't wait to join in and be a part of one the greatest conferences ever!

Recently I was in Florida attending the Future of Educational Technology Conference.  This was my first time attending and I marveled at the size of the venue and how many teachers were there.  I felt like a small fish in a big pond. I wandered around the conference center and I realized that I was missing the community that I feel whenever I go to UCET.  I love going to UCET an catching up with old friends and meeting new friends.  It is great to collaborate with teachers from the great state of Utah and see what everyone is doing to better the lives of their students.  I'm reminded of the first few years I attended UCET, I was a student and I was simply amazed at how all of these teachers would come together to better education and that's all I wanted to do. They have certainly helped to shape me as an educator. Thank you! Thank you UCET attendees for creating the amazing commmunity that we all enjoy!
