Why should I attend the UCET Conference

The UCET Conference is the largest educational technology conference in the Mountain West region. Our sessions are provided by the amazing EdTech educators and leaders from all over Utah, and our keynote and featured speakers are among the best in the country. Plus, our Expo Hall will have an incredible variety of solutions and tools to explore and learn more about.

We also provide focused strands, or a “Conference within a conference” on a wide variety important topics in education, whether they are focused on technology or not. Learn more about our conference strands for the current year

What is UCET?

UCET is the Utah Coalition for Educational Technology. It is the mission of UCET is to…

…promote the cooperative development and effective use of information technology in Utah’s educational institutions.

…provide a forum for the exchange of information on technology by holding conferences, meetings, and workshops, and publishing a monthly newsletter.

…bring together any and all parties interested in the use of technology in education for the purpose of representing their varied interests to each other and to the public.

Who attends?

Educators, of course! Our annual conference really does have something for all educators. We always have elementary and secondary classroom teachers, instructional coaches, tech coaches and trainers, technology directors, and school administrators join us each year.

Are there discounts?

Yes! Whether you want to join us in person, or just attend our virtual sessions, we have discounted pricing for early registrations until January 31. We also provide a very reasonable rate for any pre-service educators who would like to attend. 

Additionally, if you have 10 or more folks from your school or district who want to attend, we can do a bulk registration for you at a discount of $10/attendee.

What does a pass to the conference get me?

Two full days of learning and fun, connecting with great thinkers and other educators just like you. 

You can choose from:

  • Keynote Speaker sessions
  • Featured Speakers – experts and national voices providing learning and hands-on sessions throughout the conference
  • Nearly 230 different sessions focused on EdTech, Instructional Media, and many other topics
  • Different session types, including:
    • Traditional lecture style
    • Edcamp like moderated discussions
    • Ignite / Bullet Session (Set Amount of Slides; 5 minutes)
    • Maker / Hands-On 
    • Panel discussions
    • Posters (Table style presentation; 60-120 minutes)
    • Virtual sessions, both live and pre-recorded
    • UTedchat (Short, passionate topics; 10-15 minutes)
  • Conference Strands, or a “Conference Within a Conference” on a wide variety of topics, allowing you to easily focus learning on what you want and need
  • Our Expo Hall, where you can talk to industry experts and get hands-on experience with new technologies, or get questions answered about the technology already in your classroom. Look for the Expo Hall map on the bottom of our Partners page
  • NEW IN 2024! This year we are offering 3 unique “After Dark” activities for any of our conference attendees after the regular conference schedule ends on Day 1, all free of charge! Join us from 7-9 PM for:
    • Board Game Night with Eric Curts
    • Trivia Night with Carl Hooker 
    • Swank presents Movie Night: Pitch Perfect
What learning opportunities will be available?

In addition to our Keynote and Featured Speakers, we have sessions organized into conference “Strands” where different sessions around a central theme are scheduled in the same room for the day. If you really want or need to learn more about that topic, then you just need to find a seat and get ready to explore! Think of our strands as a “Conference Within a Conference.”

Will lunch be served?

Lunch is not included in the conference registration, but our location at the Salt Palace in downtown Salt Lake City provides numerous options within walking distance

Additionally, this year we will not have a set lunch break each day during the conference. The upside of this is that we can offer 20% more sessions for you to choose from. You can choose the best time for you to take your lunch, or skip lunch and continue the learning!

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

If you paid via Eventbrite, please follow the Eventbrite Guidelines for Transfers and Refunds.

Can I bring a guest?

Everyone who attends UCET + UELMA must be registered for the conference. But, please bring your unregistered guest – they can register the day of at the conference! 

How do I obtain conference credit?

UCET offers SUU, USBE Credit or Licensure points after you have completed the conference requirements, including the submission of a learning artifact that summarizes the sessions you attended and the things that you learned. All of the information you’ll need will be found here

Can I run for the Board?

Of course! The UCET Board organizes all aspects of the UCET conference – from the playground to the keynotes, presenters to vendors, our board members make it possible for our conference to run smoothly.

The UCET Board is made up of members with rich experiences from all areas of educational technology. Board members have lots of laughs and rewarding experiences together and often form lifelong friendships. We would love to have you run for the UCET board and join a dedicated group of teachers, network specialists, and educational technology professionals who put on the yearly UCET conference.
